Highest prices paid for classic cars on auction, by brand as of 2016

This statistic displays the highest prices paid by brand of ten of the leading manufacturers of classic cars, as of 2016. The definition of classic cars varies from country to country, but generally cars are considered classics if they are old or else of significant historical interest. In this way, both the 1929 Bentley and the 1998 McLaren listed here may both be considered classics in their own right. There was a considerable gap between the highest price paid for a classic Ferrari and the highest price paid for cars of other brands, with the Ferrari being sold for more than 5.9 million British pounds more than the next most expensive car, a Mercedes-Benz. In addition to this, the Mercedes-Benz was twice as expensive as the third placed brand, Aston Martin.
