In 2020, the total number of air passengers in Mexico dropped to 48.3 million due to the coronavirus pandemic.. Mexico City International Aiport (IATA: MEX) was Mexico's busiest airport, handling 22 million passengers that year. It is the only airport operated by Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México. Its revenues amounted to 8.8 billion Mexican pesos in 2020.
