This statistic shows the share of Mac OS and Windows operating system users worldwide that used, at the time of the survey, the most up-to-date or previous version of their operating system, as of 2016. At that time, 53 percent of Mac OS users were running either a fully patched and up-to-date OS or the previous but still supported version of Mac OS. Two percent of Windows users were running Win XP or Windows 8, which were unsupported or not receiving security updates at the time of the survey.
