In 2022, stainless steel melt shop production in the United States decreased to just above 2 million metric tons from nearly 2.4 million metric tons in 2021. This is a year-on-year decline of about 15 percent. Stainless steel is used in architecture as well as the construction, manufacturing, and arts industries.
