Operating margin of the major airline groups worldwide 2018

TUI UK, the U.K.-based provider of scheduled and charter flights, reported an operating margin of 15.6 percent in 2018, the highest percentage reported of all the leading airline groups worldwide. The operating margin in any business reflects the profitability of a company, by dividing the operating income to the net sales during a time period.

   TUI Airways, which specializes in charter and scheduled flights, carried over eleven million passengers in 2018 alone and had annual revenue of over 2.1 billion GBP in that year. The TUI Group itself had a 2018 revenue of over one billion euros, most of which came from travel experiences in its northern region.

The industry saw an increase in revenue since 2013; a trend predicted to continue through 2023. Expedia is the leading travel agency worldwide and reported 99 billion U.S. dollars of sales in 2018.
