This timeline illustrates the number of active credit cards in Italy from 2010 to 2020, broken down by type. The number of active personal credit cards in 2010 was roughly 13 million. In the following years, this number decreased, reaching the lowest value in 2014 (less than 11 million). Afterwards, the number of active personal credit cards increased steadily, reaching 14.3 million in 2019. When looking at the numbers regarding business credit cards, it can be seen that the peak was registered in 2010, when there where over 1.6 million of such cards. The number decreased overall throughout the period considered, reaching 1.2 million in 2019.
