Number of seats in the Icelandic parliamentary election 2021, by party

In Iceland, the Independence Party received the most number of seats in the parliament in the election in 2021. 16 of the 63 seats in the Althing were allocated to them. Moreover, the Progressive Party became the second largest with 13 seats in the parliament. In total, eight parties are represented in the Icelandic Althing after the 2021 election. The political parties in Iceland are elected through a proportional representation system, in which the parties who land above the five percent electoral threshold are awarded roughly the same number of seats as share of votes.
