Auto tires and tubes have consistently been the largest end-use for natural rubber in India. Natural rubber consumption for auto tires and tubes totaled 0.9 million metric tons in financial year 2023, while general rubber goods consumed slightly more than 401,000 metric tons.
India plays an important role in the global rubber industry as both a producer and consumer. In financial year 2023, India was the fifth-largest producer of natural rubber worldwide. It is also a major importer of rubber. Based on value, India was the fifth-largest importer of natural rubber worldwide.
