The total number of overnight stays spent by inbound and domestic tourists at accommodation establishments in Italy increased significantly in 2023 over the previous year, recovering from the impact of COVID-19. After declining to under 210 million with the onset of the pandemic, overnight stays exceeded 447 million in 2023, the highest figure reported to date. That year, hotels accounted for the highest number of nights at Italy's travel accommodation establishments, with approximately 275 million overnight stays.
