In 2023, about 22 percent of all films released in movie theaters in Mexico were also made in that North American country. In 2013, domestic movies accounted for 27 percent of the films launched in Mexican movie theaters. Moreover, between 2013 and 2020, the number of countries featuring Mexican movies worldwide declined by 46 percent but bounced back to more than 40 countries after 2021.
