In this period, value sales of pain treatment products amounted to 611.9 million British pounds, which accounted for around 370.3 million product units sold. Adult oral analgesics accounted for the highest number of unit sales at 311.4 million, which resulted in value sales of over 367.6 million British pounds.

Major exclusions: wider impulse sectors; sales in Northern Ireland; sales through health food stores, mail order, internet-only vendors (eg Amazon), discount stores (eg, Aldi,Lidl, Poundland).

Data is aggregated census EPOS for multiple retailers with sampled EPOS for independents and symbols. Retail sales value is what is actually paid by the consumer including VAT and net of any promotion. Medicine sales are Over-the-counter only and do not include semi-ethical sales or dispensed prescription sales of either P or GSL licensed products.
