In financial year 2022, the south-western city of Mumbai had the highest occupancy rate of about 60 percent in India, followed by the capital city of New Delhi. The city with the lowest occupancy rate was Pune with about 41 percent occupancy during the measured time period.
The occupancy rate in India dropped in financial year 2021 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and travel restrictions implemented alongside. Before the pandemic, the rate had been at over 60 percent in all ten major cities.
