Throughout 2022, publishing companies in Mexico printed around 104 million book copies, up 16 percent from 89 million a year earlier. In 2022, the private sector produced almost 43 million copies - or 41 percent of the total - for the National Commission for Free Textbooks (CONALITEG, as abbreviated in Spanish), a state-run agency that supplies children in public schools with textbooks free of charge. The rest were printed for the free market.Book sales revenue in Mexico increased by over 23 percent in 2022.
