This statistic represents the share of Italians who have taken up a new sporting activity in 2016, broken down by age group. According to the study, doing sport is becoming increasingly popular particularly among middle-aged Italians: half of those who took up a sport in 2016 were men and women in the age group 50-69, while almost a third of them were between 30 and 49 of age. By contrast, only 7 percent of new sport enthusiasts were younger than 30.
