With a share of over 40 percent, a majority of meat purchases (in both volume and value) were made in French hypermarkets. Supermarkets came second with a share of nearly 20 percent in both volume and value. Local markets accounted for two percent of the sales volume of meat purchases and 2.7 percent of their sales value.
