Fetal mortality rate has been declining in the rural areas of Panama throughout the last three years. In 2018, there were 70.6 stillbirths per 1,000 live births, down from 75.1 stillbirths recorded in 2011. Additionally, although the fetal mortality rate in Panamanian urban areas has also been decreasing lately, it remains way above the rate observed in rural regions of the Central American country.
