Total investment value in bioindustry companies in South Korea 2022, by sector

In 2022, the total investment value in companies in the biopharmaceutical sector of the biotech industry in South Korea climbed to almost six trillion South Korean won, an increase of nearly 77 percent in one year. This was followed by the biochemical and bioenergy sector, with investments totaling about 3.9 trillion won. This sector saw an increase of over 141 percent in investments. Other sectors with large increases included the bioinstrument and equipment industry as well as the bioservice industry, with increases of 116 percent and 111 percent respectively. The bioresource industry was the only one to see a decrease, with investments falling by nearly seven percent. This led to an overall increase of about 81 percent of investments into the biotech industry.
