This statistic shows the estimated number of cases of self-reported stress related to the workplace in Great Britain (GB) between 2014/15 and 2016/17, broken down by country. Mental health problems including stress, depression and anxiety, which were caused or worsened by work were most common in England, affecting 417 thousand people. By comparison, 41 thousand people in Scotland had reported experiencing work-related stress during that time, while 27 thousand workers in Wales reported being affected.

Results are based on the Labour Force Survey (LFS) run quarterly by the Office of National Statistics. Questions concerning work-related illnesses and workplace injury are commissioned annually by the HSE.
