In December 2020, approximately 56.2 million fixed telephone lines were operating in Brazil – 24.33 million of them provided by Oi, the leader of this segment. Exactly one year earlier, Brazil counted 64.25 million fixed telephone lines, and Oi provided around 27.92 million of them. Overall, there was an annual decrease of 12.5 percent in the total number of fixed lines in the South American country.
