Light vehicle and passenger car sales were forecast to increase by about 95 percent across India in 2022 compared to the base year of 2014. India’s automotive market was dominated by two-wheelers and passenger vehicles. Small and mid-sized car sales accounted for about 13 percent of around 2.9 million vehicles in terms of sales. Two-wheeler sales on the other hand had a share of over 80 percent.
