Between 2014 and 2017, most Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) subscriptions in Iceland were xDSL subscriptions. In 2018 however, fiber subscriptions surpassed xDSL and as of 2021, there were roughly 24 thousand IPTV subscribers via xDSL and approximately 60 thousand IPTV subscribers via fiber in Iceland. Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) refers to the transmission of television programs and films using the Internet Protocol. In contrast, the broadband transmission methods are DVB-S (via satellite), DVB-T (via terrestrial antennas) or DVB-C (via broadband cable).
