The production volume of crude steel by public sector companies in India at the end of 2022 accounted for more than 21 million metric tons, which attributed to a share of 17.7 percent of the total crude steel production. The share of the public sector companies in total crude steel production volume remained constant. India was the world's second-largest steel producing nation just after China in 2022.
