This statistic displays the distribution of freshwater withdrawal usage within the major water use sectors worldwide in 2010. During this time, the agricultural sector accounted for about 38 percent of this water is consumed by the agricultural sector. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) estimated that global freshwater withdrawals totaled some 3,928 cubic kilometers per year.
