Private use face masks stock volume in Japan FY 2014-2023
In fiscal year 2023, the inventory volume of face masks for private use in Japan amounted to 1.01 billion pieces. Impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the mask import and production was increased to cover the domestic demand following a depletion of stocks at the end of fiscal 2019, resulting in a peak recorded in fiscal 2021.
Face masks for private usage in Japan are non-medical grade products with filters made from gauze or non-woven fabrics.
