In 2022, the average volume of ice cream stood at 16 kilograms per capita in Belgium. Preserved pastry goods and cakes were especially popular. The per capita volume in this segment in Belgium amounted to roughly 21.8 kilograms. By comparison, in the neighboring country, the Netherlands, consumers ate only 13.8 kilograms of pastry goods and cakes per person per year. The average confectionery consumption there was lower across the board.
