The Spanish apparel retail conglomerate Inditex emerged as the leader of the fashion and clothing landscape in the European high street in 2021. As seen in this statistic, Inditex had 4,467 stores across Europe, which constitutes two thirds of the total number of stores the group operated worldwide.

Inditex Group owns the fashion retailers Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Oysho, and Pull & Bear among others. Zara, the group’s primary brand, accounted for the majority of Inditex’s worldwide sales in 2020, with around 2,000 stores worldwide.

Inditex’s leadership in the European fashion market is closely followed by UK brands. PepCo, JD Sports, and Next all feature in the top European retailers in 2021. Next still generates the majority of its revenue in the United Kingdom. The company's European revenues totalled almost 450 million pounds in the financial yeaar 2022.
