Estimated percentage of consumer transactions with cashless methods Europe 2014
This statistic presents the estimated share of all consumer payment transactions done using non-cash methods in selected countries in Europe as of 2014. Cashless transactions included all forms of electronic payments, such as direct debit, standing order, or sending funds from the bank account via e-money systems, as well as card payments and check payments. According to this data, non-cash payments were preferred in the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Belgium. By contrast, only six percent of transactions were cashless in Italy, five percent in Poland and four percent in Russia at that time.
