In Sweden in 2022, the biggest number of registered dogs was 163,045 animals in the county of Skåne. More than 158 thousand registered dogs were recorded in the capital Stockholm. In Västra Götaland, the third highest amount of dogs was recorded, with approximately 158 thousand registered animals living there. The lowest number of dogs that are kept as pets was on the island Gotland. In the county of the same name, about 8.5 thousand animals were registered.
