The total number of tourism and hospitality employees in Italy increased by 8.1 percent in 2023 over the previous year, recovering from the impact of COVID-19. Overall, both before and after the onset of the pandemic, food and drink services reported the highest employment in the tourism and hospitality market. In 2023, the number of employees in such businesses reached around 1.1 million, the highest figure recorded to date.
