Finland: organizations dealing with fake news by sector 2017

This statistic shows the result of a survey on organizations dealing with disinformation and fake news in Finland in 2017, by sector. Overall, the public sector had to deal with fake news and disinformation more frequently than other sectors. 16 percent of the respondents working in the public sector reported that their organization encountered fake news and disinformation weekly. The corresponding figure in other surveyed sectors was 11 percent or below. In all sectors overall, dealings with fake news and disinformation in organizations in Finland occurred mostly seldom or never.
Fake news refers to deliberate misinformation that is distributed along broadcasting or communication channels. Disinformation, on the other hand, consists of giving false or misleading information intentionally.
