During the survey period, a majority of drivers, about 30 percent said they place the phone between their ear and helmet while driving, while about three percent said they used the mobile phone's speaker phone feature.

According to the source, within each city, four categories of drivers were surveyed: two-wheeler drivers, four-wheeler drivers, truck/bus drivers and auto-rickshaw drivers. Cities surveyed: Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Kanpur, Mumbai and Kolkata.
