In 2024, the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) had approximately 447,655 visitors. This was a small decrease compared to the previous year.
The International Film Festival takes place annually in Berlin and is one of the world's most important events in the film industry. The 74th Berlinale took place from 15 February to 25 February 2024. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, significantly fewer tickets were sold in 2020 and 2021 than before the pandemic began.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Berlinale took place in two phases in 2021. The so-called Industry Event took place digitally in March 2021. The public could visit open air movie theaters during the Summer Special from June 9 to June 20 that same year.
The Berlinale could once again take place in full in 2022. Due to the ongoing pandemic, hygiene and safety rules were still required, with a maximum seat capacity of 50 percent.
