Natural gas consumption of Poland 2005-2023
In 2005, approximately 14.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas were consumed in Poland. Natural gas consumption increased over this period to 19.6 billion cubic meters in 2023, which made up 0.5 percent of the world's total natural gas consumption in that year.
Most of the gas sold in Poland comes from foreign supplies. Gas purchases from abroad amounting to 154.5 TWh, were supplemented with gas from domestic sources in the amount of 39.8 TWh. PGNiG Group companies dominated gas sales to final customers. In 2022, the largest natural gas customers in Poland were industrial companies, followed by households - the second major final customer group during that year. In 2022, the most significant amount of LNG was sold to the industrial sector. However, households accounted for a small portion of total LNG sales in Poland. The volume of LNG sales to final customers in Poland in liquefied form amounted to approximately 667,296 MWh and was carried out exclusively by alternative sellers.

The structure of energy production from renewable sources results mainly from geographical conditions and resources that are characteristic of Poland. The power generated from renewable sources in Poland in 2022 was mainly derived from solid biofuels, wind energy, and liquid biofuels. The total energy value of primary energy obtained from renewable sources in the country was 562,092 TJ in 2022. The final gross consumption of the renewable energy increased by 10 percent between 2018 and 2022.
