In financial year 2022, approximately 421 million Medicare services that were processed were paid through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to health professionals. Claims made to Medicare are made by health professionals in the form of bulk billing, by hospitals, billing agents, providers, and day surgeries through a simplified billing system, or by patients themselves.
