Market share of the leading eight mineral water brands in Italy 2021

San Benedetto is the leading player in the Italian mineral water industry. In 2021, the company held 19.6 percent of the market, followed by Sanpellegrino with a market share of 15.7 percent. During the same year, the two companies had a sales volume of three and 2.4 billion liters, respectively.

 Nestlé Group

San Pellegrino is a company owned by the Nestlé Group. Among the Nestlé’s companies located in Italy, San Pellegrino had the highest capital, with a capital value of 58 million euros as of 2016. The Italian brand belongs to the larger business Nestlé Waters, which generated sales of around two billion CHF in the European Market.

In 2017, San Pellegrino released data about the brand perception among stakeholders and population living in the area where the water gets bottled. On a scale between zero (very negative) and 100 (very positive), the respondents had to evaluate the water resource management, environmental impact, the relationship with the stakeholders and the contribution to the development of the local group. San Pellegrino got a score of 87 by its stakeholder and local population.
