The seaside was the most popular destination for domestic holidays taken by Italians in 2022. That year, seaside or cruise trips accounted for nearly 52 percent of all domestic vacations made by Italians, while they represented around 57 percent of domestic holidays in 2021. Meanwhile, the share of domestic visits to the countryside rose from roughly 10 percent in 2019 to around 14 percent in 2022.
