This statistic displays the number of deaths by cause in Greece in 2012, by gender. During this year cardiovascular disease, apart from ischaemic heart disease, was the leading cause of death among individuals in Greece, with 12.6 thousand women and 9.4 thousand men dying as a result of the disease. In the same period, cancer was a leading cause of death among men, while stroke was a leading cause of death among women.
