Compact sport utility vehicles (SUVs) were most commonly sold in Europe: these types of SUV accounted for about 20 percent of vehicles sold here in 2021. Overall, SUVs across types had a market share over 45 percent that same year. Furthermore, European motorists purchased two million small cars in 2021.
