Number of immigrants in Indonesia 1990-2020

The estimated number of international immigrants in the middle of the indicated year generally represents the number of persons born in a country other than where they live.

When data on the place of birth are unavailable, the number of non-citizens is used as a proxy for the number of international immigrants. The foreign population includes refugees, some of whom may not be foreign-born.

The mid-year 2020 population estimates were derived under the assumption that there was no increase or decrease in the number of international migrants between 1 March and 1 July, 2020, namely during the last four months of the estimation period.
