During the financial year 2022, the coastal passenger traffic at major ports in India was over 268 thousand, reflecting a dramatic increase from nearly 41 thousand in the previous year as a result travel bans and restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of people embarking was more than the number of people dis-embarking. The highest coastal passenger traffic was observed in the financial year 2009.
