Share of women in the illiterate population in APAC 2018, by country
In 2018, over 76 percent of the illiterate population in Singapore were women. However, the country also has one of the lowest numbers of illiterate people in the Asia-Pacific region. That year, over 75 percent of the more than 37 million illiterate individuals in China were female. Out of the surveyed countries, solely Mongolia had a higher share of illiterate men than women.
