Perfumes differ greatly in terms of scents and can be divided into scent families. The most popular perfume scents in Belgium in 2019 were fresh and flowery scents. On the other hand, out of the different types of perfumes, the woody scents were the least appreciated. More than the type of scent, pricing depends on the type of perfume: perfume extracts are the priciest, whereas Eau de parfum (EdP) and eau de toilette (EdT) are cheaper. These differences rely on the extraction methods, which play a role in terms of longevity and concentration of essential oils. For instance, EdT reaches up to 12 percent of concentrate, whereas EdP reaches up to 20 percent. Meanwhile, perfume extracts have a concentration exceeding 20 percent.
