Deendayal Port, also known as Kandla Port, is a seaport located in Gujarat, India, built in the 1950s.Lying on the western coast, facing the Arabian Sea, it serves as the main seaport of western India, alongside the port of Mumbai in Maharashtra. Both Maharashtra and Gujarat are among some of the more economically developed states of the country. The most common products handled in major ports were petroleum products, and coal.

Major ports are under the union list while the non-major ports are under the concurrent list of the constitution of India. Therefore, major ports are under the administrative control of government of India while the non-major ports are governed by the respective maritime state governments.
