In the financial year 2023, the petroleum products traffic handled at Indian ports amounted to over 382 million metric tons. This was a decline from the highest petroleum products volume handled by the ports in the last ten years under consideration. About 70 percent of the country's trade by value and 95 percent by volume was done through maritime transport.
