French chocolate manufacturers mostly use cocoa beans from Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) for their confections, representing over 40 percent of France's imports. Its second supplier of cacao is Ghana, which provides 19 percent of the overall volume of beans imported.
While other countries also provide France with cacao, they do so to a lesser extent than the two West-African nations mentioned above.
