Leading social media apps in Google Play in Germany 2022, by downloads

In September 2022, TikTok, the popular video-sharing app, was downloaded more than 403 thousand times to mobile devices via Google Play in Germany. TikTok Now ranked second, with almost 395 thousand downloads, while photo-app BeReal ranked third with 297 thousand downloads onto Android devices in Germany in the examined month.

Leading apps in Germany, by revenue

During the same month, Coin Master generated around 16.1 million U.S. dollars in revenue in Germany, making it the highest-grossing Android app. Gardenscapes and State of Survival: The Walking Dead Collaboration ranked second and third. Regarding the leading iPhone apps in the Apple Store, Coin Master was ninth in the list, with a revenue of 467.2 thousand U.S. dollars . Here, Tinder topped the ranking with a profit almost six times higher than Coin Master‘s.

Smartphones in Germany

The number of smartphone users increased significantly in Germany from 2009 to 2020, reaching almost 61 million users in 2020. Samsung was the most popular smartphone brand among the German population, with nearly twice as many users as iPhone. This was also depicted in Android’s market share in smartphone sales, which remained notably higher than iOS market share between 2012 and 2021.
