This statistic displays the percentage of U.S. women aged 21 to 65 who had received a cervical cancer screening within recommended time frames, by health care coverage. About 86.4 percent of respondents with private health insurance reported that they had received a cervical cancer screening within the recommended time frames, while 65 percent of respondents that were uninsured reported that they had received a cervical cancer screening within the recommended time frames. The CDC recommends cervical cancer screenings for women of average-risk every three years for those age 21 to 29 or every three to five years for those aged 30 to 65, depending on type of testing preformed. According to the survey, cervical cancer screenings were lowest among foreign-born women, those without insurance or regular care and those with a lower level of education.
