Video game console sales value share in Japan 2017, by brand
In 2017, the Nintendo Switch accounted for the largest sales share of the video game console market in Japan at about 37.6 percent of total video game console sales. The console, which was released in March of the same year, was closely followed by Sony's PlayStation 4. The success of the Switch greatly contributed to the recovery of the Japanese console market in 2017, which had been in decline in the years before.
