EU-27: plastic demand by type 2021

Plastics converters demand in the European Union (EU-27 + 3) totaled 50.3 million metric tons in 2021. Of this total, polypropylene (PP) accounted for10 million metric tons. PP is a translucent, semi-rigid plastic used to produce products such as food packaging, bank notes, and many others. The second most in-demand polymer in the EU-27 that year was low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE).
