In 2022, the pharmaceutical industry spent around 5.8 billion U.S. dollars on direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising on TV in the United States. That accounted for little more than three-quarters of the U.S. pharma sector's total DTC ad expenditure that year. The internet followed with 1.2 billion dollars – slightly more than 15 percent of the segment's investment in DTC ads.
